Make a Difference Project of the Year 2022

At H.B. Fuller, we are deeply committed to making a positive difference in our communities. For the 14th year in a row, we demonstrated this commitment to service through Make a Difference month.

More than 25 facilities around the world participated in Make a Difference projects, with 855 employees volunteering more than 5,060 hours of their time in support of 45 projects. Employees selected projects that connected with causes they are passionate about and addressed local community needs.

This year’s Make a Difference projects included visiting senior citizens, creating safe spaces for children to play and learn, providing respite for kids and families battling cancer, clearing litter from natural areas, remodeling spaces for kids living with life-altering medical conditions, and sharing personal stories with students trying to find their way.

Each year, employees also vote on a Make a Difference Project of the Year. In 2022, a very meaningful project in Santiago, Chile, was selected for this honor. As part of the project, employees in Santiago partnered with students and teachers at Liceo Industrial Domingo Matte Perez, a local school, to create and lead a practical workshop focused on building a biofilter and vermicomposting system to reduce the load of solid waste at a local school.

Using earthworms as a conduit to recover water, participants worked with the Maipu community to explain how a vermicomposter could be beneficial to reducing and reusing water at school and in their homes. Key to the planning and execution of this project was the collaboration among employees, teachers, and students. In honor of the project’s distinction as our 2022 Outstanding Volunteer Project, H.B. Fuller made a donation to Liceo Industrial Domingo Matte Perez in recognition of our employees’ service and to further the great work of this organization.
