Employee-Led Philanthropy Through Grantmaking

Grantmaking is one of many ways that H.B. Fuller supports the communities where we live and work around the world, and our employees play an important role in our philanthropic efforts.

As passionate as we are about supporting our communities, we are equally passionate about involving employees in our corporate responsibility efforts. We want our philanthropy to mirror employee priorities and community needs, and we believe that the best way to do this is to empower employees to guide many of our corporate responsibility programs.

Each year, H.B. Fuller gives approximately $1.5 million to causes that matter to our employees around the world. The H.B. Fuller Company Foundation’s grantmaking in Minnesota, supporting STEM education and youth leadership development, is led by employees. Twice each year, a committee of employees from various departments and diverse backgrounds reviews grant applications and visits potential grantees to learn about how H.B. Fuller can partner with local nonprofits to support young people in our home state. 
 
Not only does employee-guided philanthropy ensure that our grantmaking is aligned to community needs, it also provides a valuable opportunity to connect employees to local nonprofits and causes they are passionate about. I talk to employees around the world who feel a great sense of pride in our commitment to philanthrophy and volunteerism, and when they share their stories with me, I am always humbled by their generosity.
