At H.B. Fuller, we continue to strengthen our network in Asia Pacific. Our newest manufacturing facility in Surabaya, Indonesia, is scheduled for completion later this year, and is just another example of our commitment to deliver innovative adhesive solutions and value to our hygiene customers. The 30,000 square-meters of land facility will strengthen H.B. Fuller’s presence in Asia Pacific, where already we have manufacturing facilities in China, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia.

This could not have come at a more opportune time, as a recent report indicated that significant growth in emerging markets is driving product development and expansion opportunities for consumer goods manufacturers in key countries, including Southeast Asia. In fact, it is estimated that, by 2025, approximately 50 percent of global consumption will take place in emerging markets.

H.B. Fuller’s research regarding emerging markets was even featured in Issue 4 of the 2016 Nonwovens Report International.

Strengthening our Network in Asia Pacific

Indonesia, the fourth most populated country in the world, has the largest and fastest-growing economy in Southeast Asia. With that, disposable pants remained the most dynamic category in current retail value and retail volume terms in 2015. These are just some of the reasons that H.B. Fuller chose to open a new manufacturing facility there - because “we want to be where our customers are,” says Kirstin Hedin, H.B. Fuller’s Global Hygiene Marketing Director. The Surabaya manufacturing facility will also have new PSA and water-based adhesive manufacturing capabilities to support H.B. Fuller’s customer base in Southeast Asia, particularly in the hygiene industry.

The feminine care market in Indonesia is one of the top ten countries projected for growth by 2020. Furthermore, the country is reported to be second to China in projected absolute unit growth for baby diapers by 2020. Finally, although the elderly is an age group in decline in Indonesia, it remains a high potential market, as consumer spending is expected to increase.

Making Hygiene Products More Affordable

H.B. Fuller is passionate about both providing its customers with the products they need, and doing so at a cost they can afford. That’s why we work in collaboration with manufacturers to create products suitable for the income levels and the pace of income growth in every market.

Join us at OUTLOOK™ 2016 where together we will see, smell, and stretch the newest innovative hygiene products. We will be holding an Open House on September 22, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the NH Collection Eurobuilding Hotel, and look forward to seeing you there.
