Fire Rated Door Adhesives
Adhesives play an important part in Building and Home Safety.
When a fire strikes, doors provide more than a means to evacuate quickly. Doors meeting strict industry standards limit the ability of fire and smoke to spread throughout a building, maximizing safety.
To meet fire rating certifications, all components in a door must contribute to fire safety performance, including adhesives. H.B. Fuller is committed to providing adhesive products that help achieve desired door fire ratings. Over the years, we have helped door manufacturer’s increase processing efficiency while meeting industry certification and fire rating requirements.
H.B. Fuller offers a family of six fire rated component adhesives designed to help improve production while minimizing negative impact on fire test ratings. Three of these adhesives meet the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) 10C standard for Positive Pressure Fire Tests of Door Assemblies and five of the six bear the Warnock Hersey Mark, the building product industry’s leading certification mark.
The newest fire rated component status adhesive in the door lamination product line is Swift®lock 2U232-3N polyurethane hot melt adhesive, which is used in the high-speed assembly of fire resistant steel entry doors. Swift®lock 2U232-3N has a 3-hour burn rating which is one of the most difficult time rating levels to achieve and bonds a variety of door core materials, including EPS and both faced and un-faced honeycomb.
As a pioneer in melt polyurethane adhesives, H.B. Fuller understands the importance of durability for doors that are exposed to wide temperature extremes and a variety of conditions. Swift®lock 2U232-3N has high tensile strength performance for these demanding applications.
