Today, light emitting diodes, or LEDs, can be found everywhere. LED technology is used to illuminate everything from automobiles and traffic lights to computers and television screens. And as more and more people and industries realize the benefits of LED lighting, its popularity just keeps growing. At H.B. While the LED revolution is more recent, LED technology has been around for years. In fact, the science behind LED lighting was first discovered in 1907. The infrared LED, used in objects such as remote controls, was created in 1961, and in 1962, the first practical visible spectrum LED opened the door for digital quartz watches. In 1989, the first blue LED paved the way for billboards and large video screens to produce full-color displays.
It wasn’t until 1995 that the first white LED came along, jumpstarting widespread use of the LED light bulbs gaining popularity today for benefits such as energy efficiency, long life, superior quality, enhanced safety and more.
So what does this have to do with adhesives? No matter what the decade, adhesives have played an integral role in the manufacturing and innovation of the light bulb. Recently, H.B. By providing Cree with proven, industry-leading adhesive solutions, we are helping deliver LED products to market fast.

Our filtration adhesives are known for offering exceptional resistance to chemicals and harsh environmental conditions. These qualities also are necessary for light bulbs to function at their best. Many of our time-tested technologies for other industries can be transferred easily and successfully to the LED market.
