H.B. Fuller’s reputation for providing innovative solutions to our customers around the world extends beyond our products and services. We also apply our passion and spirit of collaboration to our philanthropic efforts by contributing our time, talents and resources to the regions where we work and live: North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and EIMEA (Europe, India, Middle East and Africa).
In the United States, the H.B. Fuller Company Foundation focuses on giving to STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education and youth leadership development — a commitment that reflects our expertise as a global specialty adhesive company. Through the STEM mini-grant program, H.B. Fuller donated $100,000 last year to school districts within our headquarters’ community.
In other regions around the world where basic needs can be more pressing, our grant giving focuses on children’s health, welfare and education. In Maharashtra, India, H.B. Fuller sponsored a program to support and empower young women by helping them remain in school. In Asia Pacific, we worked with Give2Asia to support the Child Development Center in Guangdong Province. And in Honduras, we gave to Fundacion Ruth Paz to purchase medical supplies for the children’s burn hospital. These are just a few examples of the grants H.B. Fuller awarded around the globe.
Last year through our Make a Difference program, more than 900 employees from 29 of our facilities contributed more than 5,000 hours to 61 projects that benefited children with disabilities, military families, the elderly, young cancer victims and others in need.
In times of crisis, H.B. Fuller is also driven to provide support. In 2010, through our Foundation, we donated $50,000 to Partners in Health to support Haiti relief efforts and $25,000 to the Salvation Army to assist with Chile disaster relief in the aftermath of two major earthquakes. Earlier this year, we donated $50,000 to Give2Asia to support the disaster relief efforts in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami. In addition, the Foundation pledged to match employee donations dollar for dollar, up to an additional $50,000.
It is our Foundation’s mission to strengthen communities and improve lives. Through grant-making, corporate and employee giving, and volunteerism, H.B. Fuller and our employees help bring our philanthropic vision to life.
