There are some things in life we often take for granted: a hot meal, a warm bed, or even new notebooks and pencils on the first day of school. For some members of our communities, however, food, shelter and school supplies are not always guaranteed.
H.B. Fuller and its employees have always been committed to our contributing time and resources to help those less fortunate. It’s a commitment that spans the globe, just like our business, with a focus on making an impact within the communities where we operate. In fact, some of the ways our Willow Lake associates are making a difference this fall – and throughout the year – include:
Back-2-School Donation Drive benefitting children at Mississippi Creative Arts Magnet School – With 95 percent of students at the school qualifying for free or reduced lunch, many families can’t afford to give their children the tools they need to succeed. As in 2011, we are coming together to provide school supplies and help them start the 2012 year off right.
Fall Food and Cash Drive benefitting Second Harvest Heartland – Each fall, our employees donate food or cash to benefit Second Harvest Heartland. In 2011, Willow Lake employees donated more than 450 pounds of food and more than $1,700 in cash.
Serving Meals at Dorothy Day Center – We have a 20-plus year history of serving meals at the Dorothy Day Center in downtown St. Paul. It gives employees a chance to give back to the community – while learning about cooking and channeling their inner Top Chef!
Aluminum Can Donation for the Simpson Shelter – Each month, a dedicated H.B. Fuller retiree collects our aluminum cans and brings them to the recycling center in exchange for cash. Proceeds are donated to the Simpson Shelter to support our homeless neighbors.
While these activities are specific to Willow Lake, they reflect the spirit of H.B. Fuller associates around the world who are committed to being good neighbors, building stronger communities and improving lives.
