PAC and IFS Finalize Partnership; H.B. Fuller to Host Training on Food Packaging Safety Standards

August 6, 2012

image of the PACsecure - HACCP logoThe Packaging Association (PAC) has united with Germany-based IFS Management GmbH (IFS) to achieve international recognition for its PACsecure food safety standard. The name of the standard, which is designed to ensure the safety and quality of packaging materials for the food industry, will become IFS PACsecure.

IFS PACsecure will be submitted for Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) benchmarking and IFS PACsecure certification will be available around the world in the fall of 2012.

IFS already owns the GFSI-benchmarked IFS Food Standard, IFS Logistics and other supply chain standards and has certified more than 12,000 users globally. According to Jim Downham, CEO of the Packaging Association, partnering with the IFS makes the most sense for global implementation of IFS PACsecure.

To help packaging company plant managers and quality assurance personnel become compliant with the standard, H.B. Fuller will host a one-day IFS PACsecure HACCP training course at our St. Paul, Minn. headquarters on Oct. 17, 2012

The morning session will focus on manufacturing practices for external and internal premises; the afternoon session will concentrate on the HACCP standards developed specifically for flexible plastics, rigid plastics, paper, metal and glass packaging materials. For more information, contact George Gansner, IFS Management GmbH, gansner@ifs-certification.com; or Larry Dworkin, The Packaging Association, larrywdworkin@gmail.com.

At. H.B. Fuller, we are committed to guaranteeing food safety through innovative packaging adhesives and to bringing the supply chain together to implement solutions. The partnership between PAC and IFS will boost the recognition of food packaging safety standards and is an important step in the right direction.
